Staying airside
A quicker way to connect
What does "staying airside" mean?
When you see this on your itinerary, it means you can stay within the secure area of the airport for your connection. You won't need to exit through customs, or go through security again.
When does this apply?
This applies for certain routes and when you're travelling with carry-on luggage only. Because there's no checked luggage to collect and recheck at the connecting airport, you can go straight to your next departure gate.
What this means for your transfer
Staying airside makes your connection simpler, faster and more convenient. Instead of the full self-transfer process, you make your way directly to your next gate, much like a standard connecting flight.
Keep in mind: you're still on a self-transfer trip. Your tickets are separate, and if something goes wrong with one flight, each airline can only assist with their own ticket.
